What is Pilates?
Pilates is a low-impact movement method that focuses on strength, mobility, posture and body awareness. Originally developed by Joseph Pilates, it emphasises controlled, precise movement, coordinated with breath and concentration, to support efficient and balanced movement.
Exercises are designed to strengthen the deep core muscles — including the abdominals, back, hips and glutes — while also improving alignment, flexibility and overall movement quality.
Pilates is highly adaptable and suitable for all ages and stages, from beginners to experienced movers, and can be particularly beneficial for those returning to exercise or recovering from injury when taught with care and attention. Its mindful approach supports both physical wellbeing and mental focus, making it a valuable practice for everyday life.
If you have any questions, please visit the FAQs section or get in touch via the Contact page — I’m always happy to help.
