What is Pilates?

Pilates is a low-impact exercise method designed to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, it focuses on controlled movements, breathing, and concentration to create a strong mind-body connection. The exercises target the core muscles—particularly the abdominals, lower back, hips, and glutes—often referred to as the "powerhouse" in Pilates.

Pilates can be adapted to suit all ages and fitness levels, making it ideal for beginners, athletes, older adults, or those recovering from injury. It promotes better posture, balance, and coordination, and can help reduce stress and prevent injuries. Its mindful approach to movement makes it a holistic practice for both body and mind.
